Who We Are
First Step Cambodia works with skilled social workers and trainers, who provide counseling and social work services to child survivors of sexual abuse, conduct prevention workshops to both children and adults, and build the capacity of service providers who work directly with children in Cambodia.
We offer internship placements to students who are looking for an internship or would like to build their experience in preparation of their future career in Cambodia.
Available Internships
1. Social Work Internship
o What: support and become part of our dynamic social work team, helping them in their administrative work while receiving the opportunity to participate in social work training courses, community visits and learning from the best.
o Who: social work students (for example: NISA, Saint Paul Institute, RUPP, others)
o Duration: minimum 3 months (part-time possible due to mandatory classes)
o Location: on-site (Phnom Penh and Siem Reap)
2. Trainer Internship
o What: support the training team in every aspect of their work and help prepare the training sessions. In turn, you will get the opportunity to participate in the sessions.
o Who: social work students (for example: NISA, Saint Paul Institute, RUPP, others)
o Duration: minimum 3 months (part-time possible due to mandatory classes)
o Location: on-site (Phnom Penh)
3. Communications
o What: (a) help manage social media by creating content (posts and photography) in English and Khmer; (b) create articles and blog items to help raise awareness online and in the press (Khmer and/or English);
o Who: Khmer students attending a relevant bachelor or master's course
o Duration: minimum 3 months
o Location: on-site (Phnom Penh)
4. Translator
o What: translate from English to Khmer, and from Khmer to English
o Who: Khmer students attending a relevant bachelor or master's course
o Duration: varying from translating 1 document from home, to months translating at the office as part of an internship
o Location: can be on-site or remote
5. Admin Support
o What: support the admin team with various tasks such as inventory/stock, processing documents, sorting of receipts, preparing templates and documents, etc.
o Who: Khmer students attending a relevant bachelor or master's course (general management, office management, administration)
o Duration: minimum 3 months (part-time possible due to mandatory classes)
o Location: on-site (Phnom Penh)
